according to datestamps, i worked on this in 2003, 2007, and 2012 at flabby road. i glued it together quickly this morning like the frankenstein monster it is, including several hours spent (unsuccessfully) attempting to recover the original drum kit from battery 2.

about

this here is the collection of all the covers from #coronadrops, a daily offering of an otherwise previously unreleased recording to the quarantine gods back in the spring of 2020.

the fourth week of coronadrops became — quite whimsically and thoughtlessly — a week of all cover versions, most of which originated from “if i were you,” a solo, all-virtual-instrument covers record that was abandoned after The Great Loops and Samples Hard Drive Crash of 2005 (see the notes to the individual songs for more on that.) the remaining presentable “if i were you” songs show up in other #coronadrop weeks, and “i miss you” ended up on discount store.

“covers week” became a bit of an albatross as it dawned on me what a sad state some of the only remaining master mixes were in, but surely i can’t be faulted for ambition (a solo all-VST record on a DP G4(!) LOL in 2004 what ON EARTH was i thinking?) despite my willfully eclectic song choices, heavy on the canadian singer-songwriters.

buying this album reminds us that there is still love in this world (anymore.)

it also gets you two bonus tracks: one unfinished, and one just plain awful. now that’s salesmanship!
